In order to research and develop near-zero coal-fired power generation technologies, the Company initiated the GreenGen Program. The Phase One of the Program aims to build an IGCC demonstration project with a proprietary 2000-ton/day gasifier, and to build a GreenGen Lab. The Phase Two aims to optimize the gasifier, research and develop GreenGen key technologies, and build near-zero emission demonstration power projects. The Phase Three aims to build and operate a 400MW IGCC+CCUS demonstration power plant, and make preparation for commercialization.
In December 2012, the 250MW IGCC demonstration power plant started operation in Tianjin, which is China's first and so far the only IGCC power station with independent intellectual property rights. This power station adopts a number of new technologies and processes including the Two-stage Dry Pulverized Coal Pressurized Gasifier with independent intellectual property rights, which indicates that China has mastered the core technologies and the capabilities of integrated design, equipment manufacturing, installation, commissioning, operation and management of large-scale IGCC projects.
